Book in Beta (BIB): Welcome

I'm a philosopher by training and a writer by vocation. This means that the way I bring my training into the world, the way I express and share, is in writing. I'm a teacher, too, which also means that I work with words that I speak and that others speak, words that others write, and - perhaps most importantly - ideas that we try to communicate to one another. This project - the Book in Beta, part one of a three-part book that's been percolating for five years - is a practice in teaching philosophy through writing, to invite the reader to think along with me and to think through what's underneath our ideas, beliefs, and the commitments we make in public and in private.
